What is Breast Reduction Surgery?

Breast reduction surgery is a surgical procedure in which excess fat and excess skin are removed from the breast. It is a reconstructive surgery performed to correct the problem in the physical appearance of the woman.

Before Surgery

First of all, we arrange a one-to-one meeting with our plastic surgeon for our patients who need breast reduction surgery. These meetings, in which we discussed the expectations and wishes of our patient, are important for Üsküdar Private Hürrem Sultan Hospital. Our patient is listened carefully by our surgeon, the disease history, medical history is learned and examined.

Our operating surgeon and our patient previously determined the right option in order to create the most suitable breast for the body’s breast tissue. Drawings are made in accordance with this size on the morning of the surgery. Breast reduction surgery is performed under general anesthesia by our plastic surgeon in our hospital. The operation takes between 2.5 -3 hours on average. The nipple is moved to where it should be. The surgical incision is in the shape of an inverted T on the nipple, vertically from the nipple and in the lower fold of the breast. There may be traces. Traces are obvious at first, but fade over time. The permanence of the scars after breast reduction surgery varies according to the size of the breast tissue, the surgical technique and the skin quality of our patient.

Post-Surgery Recovery

Our patient stays in the hospital for one night and is dressed in a special bra that  will be asked to use for 4 weeks. She  can return to work 1 week after Breast Reduction Surgery. It is recommended to stay away from heavy sports and activities before 3 months. The permanence of the process continues for a long time. Our patient, who is disturbed both physically and psychologically by the large and sagging breasts, can now act more freely in choosing clothes after breast reduction surgery. Her  self-confidence increases even more.
